See It Again has been scratched from the Betway Summer Cup, but there will still be plenty of raiders with former winner Royal Victory still standing his ground alongside Madison Valley, King Pelles, On My Honour, Mocha Blend and Shoot The Rapids as well My Best Shot from the East Cape and Otto Luyken from the Cape.

Frank Robinson was not tempted to supplement Field Marshall after his runner up finish in the Gr 3 Betway Victory Moon Stakes as he said he would not beat Madison Valley.

However, he said, “I may run the filly Mocha Blend, although I don’t know whether she is going to make the final field. She’s good but very laid back and she walked out the pens in her last start in Jo’Burg, that’s what beat her.”

Mocha Blend was carrying join topweight in the Listed Summer Pudding Handicap over 1600m and was beaten 0,30 lengths by joint topweight Kisshoten.

Frank will school her in the pens and she will stand her ground as he pointed out the good record of fillies in the Summer Cup. There have been nine female winners in the last 50 years, including Roland’s Song winning it twice.

The four-year-old Mocha Blend is rated 105 and will be 5,5kg under sufferance as things stand, but Frank believes she is capable of running above her rating.

Frank revealed, “I am going to take Shoot The Rapids and am probably going to run him in the Stayers race on the day (The R350,000 ROA Stakes over 3200m).”

Frank said Madison Valley was very well and had been “flying” at home.

Five-year-old Madison Valley is rated 116, which sees him only having to carry 54,5kg.

He was beaten 2,35 lengths into fourth last year by the winner Atticus Finch and will now be 5,5kg better off and he beat Royal Victory by 0,65 lengths and will now be 1,5kg better off.

However, on Hollywoodbets Durban July form Royal Victory comes out ahead of Madison Valley as Royal Victory gave the latter 5kg and a 0,30 length beating and he now only has to give him 4,5kg.

Nathan Kotzen is equally happy with Royal Victory, who has benefited from his sessions with the “horse whisperer” Glyn Redgrave, who has solved the issues the six-year-old was having in the preliminaries such as “sticking up” on the way to the start.

Nathan was happy with the final preparation run of Royal Victory in a Conditions Plate event over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Greyville in which he finished 0,95 lengths back in fourth place.

He did lament the slow place of the race but his new jockey Chad Little ensured he was driven hard all the way up the straight and he should be at his peak on the big day.

Asked whether Royal Victory was as good as he was when winning the race in 2023, Nathan mentoined his turn of foot not being as instantaneous.

However, in the long Turffontein straight that should not be too detrimental with the main thing being he still possesses a resolute finish, which he proved in the Hollywoodbets Durban July, coming from near the back for a 2,85 length fourth.

Royal Victory is one of the most consistent horses in training and only twice in his 29 start career has he finished more than 3,75 lengths behind the winner.

Therefore, he represents good each way value at 20/1, despite having to carry 59kg off his 125 rating.

The Gareth van Zyl-trained King Pelles was the most eye-catching runner in the aforementioned Conditions Plate race at Hollywoodbets Greyville over 1600m and was comfortably the best performed horse in the race at the weights. He ran on strongly from last without being given a hard time at all..

King Pelles biggest career successes have come over staying race trips. However, he has an exceptional turn of foot and has proved in his last couple of starts he is not a one trick pony.

He will carry 57,5kg and has been backed into 11/2 with the sponsor and will still have plenty of supporters at those skinny odds.

The winner of the aforementioned conditions race at Hollywoodbets Greyville was the Glen Kotzen-trained On My Honour, although he was well in at the weights under Serino Moodley.

He was strongly fancied for the Hollywoodbets Durban July, but it did not pan out well for him.

In the Gr 3 Hollywoodbets Dolphins Cup Trial over 1800m before that he was beaten 0,3 lengths by Madison Valley when receiving half-a-kilogram.

He will carry half-a-kilogram less than him in the Summer Cup too.

Off his 116 rating the four-year-old sneaks into the handicap with the minimum weight of 54kg and represents fair value at 16/1, especially considering Madison Valley is 10/1.

My Best Shot should relish the long straight of the Turffontein Standside course as he is very effective at Fairview, which also has a long straight.

Richard Fourie will ride the Alan Greeff-trained stalwart, who is an interesting each way prospect at 20/1.

The James Crawford-trained Otto Luyken won the July consolation race on Hollywoodbets Durban July day, albeit in  slow time, and he will enjoy the step up in trip from his preparation race when a far from disgraced 5,25 length fifth in the Gr 2 Allied-Steelrode Onamission Charity Mile over 1600m. He will be 3kg better off with Atticus Finch from that race off his 116 rating, so will be up against it on that evidence, but as one who represents the Garrix form over 1800m in Cape Town he could be a dark horse and the sponsor is treating him with respect as they have him as a 14/1 chance.

The summer rains have struck and the Hollywoodbets Greyville poly will be put to the test over the coming few months. Racing was supposed to be at Hollywoodbets Scottsville today, hosting its first meeting after the tracks annual spring treatment, however, heavy rain over the past weekend that saw Hollywoodbets Greyville’s turf meeting switched to the poly on Sunday, and more rain predicted for today, the Hollywoodbets Scottsville meeting has been moved to the poly track.

Many trainers were waiting for the return to Scottsville and the move has resulted in a plethora of scratchings so check for changes before placing any bets.

One trainer that has no qualms of the change is Garth Puller who saddles Major Tommie in the Class 3 Handicap that heads up the nine-race card. Major Tommie was caught out by outsider Master Josh on the poly last time out and the extra 100m should be right up his alley. He does take a rise in class but is lightly raced and does still appear to be under the handicappers radar.

With four defections the field has been reduced to six runners but still a competitive handicap

 Future Flo is the ultimate ATM for Michael Roberts and owner Howard Schwegman and is hardly ever out of the money. He will be a big threat. Now that racing is around the turn, Maphaka has the best of the draw in pole position and was touched off last time out. He comes in with bottom weight and could finish ahead of Icy Blast for the shallow end of the purse, Callan Murray deputizing for Muzi Yeni.

Two of the leading contenders for the Class 4 handicap, Exocet and Cowboy Country, are defections leaving nine runners. Position Of Power may just have needed his last run after a break and has not finished further back than second in three starts and does look progressive. Luneluck has plenty of speed and the drop to 1000m should see Stuart Ferries gelding in the firing line. Rafa’s Boy is seldom out of the money these days and should be competitive while Kinshin Sha has dropped further in the ratings and the stables is in good form.

The seventh is an open handicap where Captain’s Christy’s form will be under scrutiny. Mark Dixon’s filly is back over what looks to be her preferred trip and won well at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time out. Three that finished close-up behind her have been scratched which will enhance her chances for a fifth win for Mark Dixon.

Convocation beat the useful Tomyris on the poly last time out and although she drops back in trip she is an accomplished sprinter and an eighth win is on the radar. Perfume Power was a comfortable maiden winner last time out beating stable companion Austrian Beauty who has since franked that form. She only has 51kg to shoulder which should make her competitive.

Eric’s Legacy should be one of the better bets on the card and a Bi-Pot banker. Andre Nel’s colt made a cracking debut when coming from a long way back to finish second after a tardy start. That was not the greatest maiden field but he meets a similar class of opposition here and he should be difficult to beat.

Of the balance, War Emperor was not disgraced on debut finishing a long way back but the winner was the promising Cognac while Runthruthejungle found some market support on debut and can improve.

Greatest Hit can get the PA off to a solid start as Wengi Masawi’s gelding came on nicely from his debut effort when touched off second time out. He stays the trip and should be up there again in what looks to be a modest line-up especially with Double Causeway out of the way.

Green Glow, a facile maiden winner last time out faces just four runners in the Pick 6 opener. Green Glow cruised to a comfortable maiden victory after two runners-up berths. He looks progressive and could have too much for this field. He was also the choice of stable rider Craig Zackey with stable companion Industrialstrength a scratching due to insufficient recovery time after running in Cape Town just eight days ago. The lightly raced Master Du Rouvray showed up well first run out of the maidens and although Mark Dixon’s charge tackles this trip for the first time he is definitely not out of it.

The fifth is a tricky handicap event though Mike Miller has scratched both of his runners. Icy Lancaster now has the best of the draw but the form behind Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas candidate Queen Braganza has not panned out. Buttercup Baby is back on her preferred surface and has the benefit of Rachel Venniker’s 1.5kg allowance while Light Of Gabriel ran a smart race first up out of the maidens and should be competitive. Shimmering has her second run for Louis Goosen and gets lumps of weight from most of her rivals.

The last is another wide open handicap. Fate Of Fortune has a big weight but has come well in blinkers and should put in another good shift. Dennis Bosch has Trafalgar Square back over his best distance and the seven-time winner gets 4kg off his back. suggest include as many as your budget allows in this leg of the exotics.

Summary: MYSTIC DANCER (4) made a promising return after a lengthy lay-off. She had shown promise before the break and with a run under he girth she should make a bold effort. COCCOLINA (1) is a lightly raced four-year-old. She made a smart debut behind the promising Kanaal Skater but disappointed when favourite next time out. She does appear to be better than that. MALSHANA MOU (6) is back from a break. She may have found the trip on the poly a touch too far at her last start and has two good runs over course and distance to her name. SOL E SOMBRA (11) was not too far back on debut and should improve on that showing. (Andrew Harrison: 4-1-6-11).

1 ERIC’S LEGACY   5 WAR EMPEROR   3 RUNTHRUTHEJUNGLE   8 WINDING POWER

Summary: ERIC’S LEGACY (1) made a cracking debut when coming from a long way back to finish second. That was not the greatest maiden field but he meets a similar class of opposition here and he should be difficult to beat. WAR EMPEROR (5) was not disgraced on debut finishing a long way back but the winner was the promising Cognac. RUNTHRUTHEJUNGLE (3) found some market support on debut and can improve while WINDING POWER (8) could also improve back to a sprint. (Andrew Harrison: 1-5-3-8).

RACE 3

2 DOUBLE CAUSEWAY   7 GREATEST HIT   10 BOURBON’S BEAST   5 NORIEGA

Summary: GREATEST HIT (7) came on nicely from his debut effort when touched off second time out. He stays the trip and should be up there again in what looks to be a modest line-up. DOUBLE CAUSEWAY (2) had it tough from a wide draw on debut and caught the eye wil a smart showing at long odds. He should much prefer this trip from a good draw. BOURBON’S BEAST (10) was a beaten favourite last run but is way better than that showing and should be involved in the finish from a wide draw. (Andrew Harrison: 2-7-10-5).

RACE 4

3 GREEN GLOW   5 INDUSTRIALSTRENGTH   2 MASTER DU ROUVRAY   6 BAD MEDICINE

Summary: Dean Kannemeyer could hold the whip hand with GREEN GLOW (3) and INDUSTRIALSTRENGTH (5). Green Glow cruised to a comfortable maiden victory after two runners-up berths. He looks progressive and could have too much for this field. He is the choice of stable rider Craig Zackey. Indistrialstrength was in Cape Town just eight days ago where he finished just out of the money with first time blinkers. He has a big weight but is capable on his day. MASTER DU ROUVRAY (2) is lightly raced but showed up well first run out of the maidens. He tackles this trip for the first time and is definitely not out of it. BAD MEDICINE (6) is always game but does look to be a better proposition over a lot further. (Andrew Harrison: 3-5-2-6).

Summary: SIESTA SUNSET (2) ran a smart race from a wide draw behind the useful Captain’s Christy last time out. She was doing her best work late and the extra 200m may now be what she is looking for. ICY LANCASTER (1) was just over a length back to Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas candidate last time out. She gets weight from Siesta Sunset and that may just be enough. BUTTERCUP BABY (7) is back on her preferred surface and has the benefit of Rachel Venniker’s 1.5kg allowance. SONATA SAMARITAN (11) may have found her last outing a touch beyond her compass and drops back to a sprint. She is seldom out of the money and has a handy galloping weight. RACE 6

8 MAJOR TOMMIE   10 VIHAAN’S WEB   9 WARRIOR ROYALE   6 FURUTE FLO

Summary: MAJOR TOMMIE (8) was caught out by outsider Master Josh on the poly last time out and the switch back to turf over an extra 100m should be right up his alley. He does take a rise in class but is lightly raced and does look to still be under the handicappers radar. VIHAAN’S WEB (10) obviously has issues judging on his record but has plenty of ability. He has not been out since June but gets first time blinkers and at best will go close. Judged on jockey bookings, WARRIOR ROYALE (9) appears to be the pick of Mike Miller’s two runners although LICENCE TO THRILL (2) is no slouch on his day. Warrior Royale drops back to a sprint but has been running well over 1400m at recent outings. FUTURE FLO (6) is hardly ever out of the money and his last win was on this course. RACE 7

10 VISION TO ACHIEVE   5 CONVOCATION   9 WINTER RAINFALL  11 CAPTAIN’S CHRISTY

Summary: Open handicap. CAPTAIN’S CHRISTY (11) back over what looks to be her preferred trip won well at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time out. However, she had a few of today’s opposition behind her. VISION TO ACHIEVE (10) finished a length back in fourth and coupled with Rachel Venniker’s 1.5kg allowance Paul Gadsby’s mare is now 3kg better off which should be enough to turn the tables. CONVOCATION (5) beat the useful Tomyris on the poly last time out. She drops back in trip but is an accomplished sprinter and eight win is on the radar. WINTER RAINFALL (9) is 1.5kg better off with Captain’s Christy for a half-length beating and apprentice Dezahn Louw is well worth his 4kg claim. PERFUME POWER (3) was a comfortable maiden winner last time out beating stable companion Austrian Beauty who has since franked that form. She only has 51kg to shoulder which should make her competitive. (Andrew Harrison: 10-5-9-11-3).

RACE 8

12 EXOCET   4 COWBOY COUNTRY   5 POSITION OF POWER   9 RAFA’S BOY

Summary: EXOCET (12) is held in some regard by his stable and is unbeaten in two starts over this trip including his maiden victory over course and distance. He shoulders a big weight but does look progressive and can follow up on his last win. COWBOY COUNTRY (4) started favourite on debut over course and distance and landed the odds for Tony Rivalland. He was given a hefty rating for that win and this race should tell if the handicappers have got it right. POSITION OF POWER (5) may just have needed his last run after a break. He has not finished further back than second in three starts. RAFA’S BOY (9) has been consistent and should be in the scrum once again. (Andrew Harrison: 12-4-5-9).

9 NIGHT TIGER   4 FATE OF FORTUNE   8 TRAFALGAR SQUARE   12 WHEREVERILAYMYHAT

Summary:  Wide open handicap. NIGHT TIGER (9) has had two starts since arriving from the Cape and improved second time out. He looks primed for this. FATE OF FORTUNE (4) has a big weight but has come well in blinkers and should put in another good shift. TRAFALGAR SQUARE (8) is back over his best course and distance and gets 4kg off his back. WHEREVERILAYMYHAT (12) has been consistent and is overdue another win. I suggest include as many as your budget allows in this leg of the exotics. (Andrew Harrison: 9-4-8-12).
