Race 1
Exciting start with regally bred PERFECT SKY the one to watch for good improvement after a promising fourth place finish on debut and there are well-bred newcomers in the lineup. The 1000m would have been short and even though bred for further she can open her account at the second time of asking. IMPRESSIVE was beaten, in her penultimate start, in a close finish behind Moana who has gone on to impress, and she must be respected even if dropping in distance. Well-related Vercingetorix filly FEAST OF BERRIES could be the debutante to follow. Follow the betting market closely.
Race 2
It should pay to keep a close eye on this race. There are several nicely bred first-timers that may need to be marked down for next time. However, Gimmethegreenlight colt GONE COLD has run two solid races and it will take a decent sort to beat him. The yard of trainer Alec Laird is also in good form. ALL TIME LEGEND is bred to fly and could be one to attract support. LUCKY AWESOME and GOTTHETIGER have eye-catching jockey engagements. STORMACT has improved with each start and relished the extra last time. He should go further in time but could have a say again.
Race 3
DOCTOR STRANGELOVE is a well named, well-bred son of Master Of My Fate who won’t need to be special to play a leading role on debut. The only first-timer in the race, he makes a late start to his career. ROCK MY BOAT has turned in two useful runs finishing runner-up in consecutive recent starts. He should be in the mix again. MIRROR FLECTION is back from an extended break. He showed some potential earlier and if not in need of the run could be a real threat. FLYING WORLD races for a stable in form again and needs to be respected. EMERALD COUNTESS and SAPPHIRE SUN have earning potential too.
Race 4
Youngster CELTIC MANOR finished a close-up 2nd on debut against older rivals and is open to any amount of improvement stepping up to this trip with that experience to count on. MADE TO MEASURE, GIMMESUMLUV and STORM BALLET have both the form and experience to challenge the 2yo selection. Improving BE MY FATE has also shown enough to make her presence felt. REGAL QUEEN improved for the step up to this distance last time and need only confirm that improvement to have a say in the outcome.
Race 5
Best-weighted WILLY MEET AGAIN is no stranger to taking on male opposition. She has maintained her form and consistency in stronger races so warrants respect off a reduced mark. Last-start winner KING’S EXPRESS and returning BUSTER BARNES also have decent form in better company so have to be included in exotic permutations. BIRTHRIGHT and THE PLAYBOY BOMBER are consistent performers at this level so also warrant inclusion. ERROL FLYNN had excuses for his no-show in a 3yo Grade 1 last time so is best kept safe. TINTIN could have more to offer stretching out to this trip off an unchanged mark.
Race 6
ARUMUGAM caught the eye when a fast-finishing 4th from a wide draw over 1800m last time and this extended trip off a reduced rating should be more to his liking. MOUNT DARWIN has been out of sorts at a higher level but should be more competitive dropped to this grade in his peak outing off a lower rating. Maturing 3YOs SAND SCRIPT (filly), TERRENCE and last-start maiden winner THOONSIL remain open to improvement and could be better than rated so must be kept onside. Veteran class-droppers DJ JUNIOR and FULL GO could have roles to play too off their current marks.
Race 7
ARIOVISTUS was a dominant winner over this trip last time, albeit at a lower level, and a 6-point rise may not be enough to halt his momentum. ONE MORE STAR, KISSING MACHINE and JORDAN are suited by this trip and have the form to be competitive. HUEHUETENANGO and PALACE ATTACK are better than their most recent displays suggest and could have roles to play too.
Race 8
LEAD THE CHARGE won his last start in first-time cheekpieces and should remain competitive, though does have a bit to find at the weights/on current ratings. NIGHT BOMBER re-opposes on better terms and should pose more of a threat to his last-start conqueror. Best-weighted DESTINY OF FIRE acquitted herself well in a fillies’ feature last time and should be competitive on that form. ALMOND SEA finished a long way adrift of that rival but did have legitimate excuses that day and is capable of better. ZIYASHA, MOVER AND SHAKER, CHASING HAPPINESS and SLINKY MAPIMPI can get into the picture too.
Race 9
UMZINGELI WENYATHI was a game-in-defeat 2nd in KZN last time at a higher level so a repeat of that performance off an unchanged mark could suffice. HIS LORDSHIP and TWENTYTWENTYVISION also ran in a stronger contest last time and will likely play leading roles if reproducing those efforts. Last-start maiden winner SLENDER SILHOUETTE is respected on her handicap debut, as is FIFTY WAYS who remains open to improvement after an enforced break. HEMISPHERE, BUMPS LAST GRIND, LONELY AS A CLOUD and ROCK OF BISMANTOVA are others with earning potential.

9 SPARKLING STAR was heavily supported in the market when finishing third behind Mystic Inferno on the 1st of April, she is a lovely filly with a beautiful action, the yard thinks highly of this individual, she will be very hard to beat now that she has dropped back to 1000m. 7 WORLD OF SECRETS caught the eye late when finishing just over four lengths behind Enticement last time, she looks progressive, watch her closely, she will run a big race here. This is a race dominated by first-timers, keep your eyes glued to the parade ring and let the market guide you.
Race 2
2 ROMAN BEAUTY ran a great race on debut, with natural improvement expected from this well-bred filly, she will be hard to beat. 3 BLACKBIRD stayed on nicely for fourth behind the highly rated Rich Man’s World on the 30th of March, the form of that race has worked out well, he will make tons of improvement going into his second start, include him into all bets. 4 NAVASNINE improved beautifully to finish second behind a nice type on the 15th of April, even though he wants further, he will run a big race, watch him closely. There are some nicely bred first timers in the mix, any market support would be significant.
Race 3
2 HILTON HEADS has run three good races in succession, he should love the step up in trip, from a neat draw here, he will go close to winning. 10 BIG DEAL is much better than his last start, the blinkers have been removed, if he gets some luck in running from a bad draw, he will be right there in the finish. 1 PROTECTOR OF PEACE will be given every chance from a good draw, the blinkers and the tongue tie stay on, he should be amongst the places now that he steps up in trip to 1400m. 9 THE BIG BANG ran a great race behind Sky Rocket up the straight at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on the 15th of April, he will enjoy the step up in trip to 1400m, watch him closely.
Race 4
7 MASTERONTHEMOON was a touch unlucky when finishing fast for second behind Phantom Man on the 15th of April, top jockey Richard Fourie sticks with this gelding, he will go very close to winning on his current form. 5 BOURBON KING looks progressive, he ran a great race for second behind Spanish Verse last time, the blinkers stay on, and he steps up in trip to 1800m, he will be super competitive from a neat draw. 8 SPARKLING SKY will love the step up in trip to 1800m, she is a big filly with a big action, if she finds herself in a good position turning for home, she will be amongst the places. 2 ROYAL INFLUENCER ran a fair race behind Ferryman on the 18th of April, he tries 1800m for the first time, there should be no excuses for this gelding on Saturday.
Race 5
5 BACKINTHEFASTLANE quickened up smartly to win a good race on the 18th of April, the form of that race has worked out well, the blinkers stay on, he has a big winning chance again. 7 TRIP TO CAMELOT won well at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on the 21st of March, his form since being gelded has been good, he will be competitive stepping out of the maiden ranks. 4 SUPER VIKING was gutsy on the 30th of March, he moved through the field impressively to shed his maiden tag in good style, more is required from him to win again, but he looks progressive. 1 MIDWAY is honest, he can earn for the connections from a perfect draw.
Race 6
2 SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE ran a top race out of the maiden ranks behind South Of France on the 15th of April, she is a young filly with lots of scope for improvement, there is no doubt that she has a big winning chance on her current form. 1 APRICITY has run two excellent races in succession, she will be just off the speed early, and she will be storming home late, include her into all bets from a nice draw. 5 RAFFISH TREND might be the value horse in this tricky race, she will love the step up in trip, her form is consistent, watch her closely. 3 MISS ATTITUDE caught the eye late for fourth in the same race as Somebody Somewhere last time, it was a great run out of the maiden ranks, she will be right there in the finish.
Race 7
3 MARCUS AURELIUS stayed on well for second behind Future Free on the 15th of April, the blinkers stay on, he will be just off the speed early, and he will be flying at them late, he has a big winning chance from a good draw. 4 FERRYMAN won his maiden in style on the 18th of April, he looks like a smart horse in the making, he should be right there in the finish, include him into all bets. 5 IN MOTION needed his run back after a long break on the 6th of April, the step up in trip should bring out further improvement, he will be much fitter going into this race on Tuesday, watch him closely. 1 CAPTAINS ALLIANCE has run some fair races of late, he has dropped further in the ratings, he has a good place chance on his best form.
Race 8
6 GIN PALACE has changed stables, she is a filly that always comes to the track with a big reputation, her form is very good, even though this trip of 1000m is on the short side, she will be competitive. 5 PUSHING LIMITS has been rested for 128 days, she has no weight on her back, if the apprentice gets her into a good rhythm with some cover early, she will run a big race, watch her closely at this level. 2 BLACK ERIKA never runs a bad race, she was doing some good work late behind Music Of The Night last time, this trip of 1000m might be a touch fast for her early, but she has a wonderful turn of foot late, she will be hitting the line hard, include her into all bets. 1 PEACE OF MIND is much better than her last run, she will try and lead the field from start to finish.
Ziyasha can make the headlines

A Pinnacle Stakes event over 1100m is the headliner at Turffontein Standside today and it could go to Ziyasha.
The Clinton Binda-trained Rafeef gelding was backed at long odds in the Gr 2 TAB Senor Santa Stakes over 1160m but unfortunately overraced. He now gets Gavin Lerena up and will appreciate the slight step down in trip, even if it is just 60m shorter. His low draw of four is a bit of a concern but the straight course at Turffontein sometimes has no bias at all these days. On the other hand he is 3,5kg under sufferance with the best weighted horse Destiny Of Fire. The latter gets a 2,5kg gender allowance and is at least 2,5kg better off with any of the male runners, but it is never easy for the girls against the boys. Ziyasha is only 1kg under sufferance with the best weighted male. However, a look at his run in the Computaform Sprint in which he was squeezed out at a vital stage before running on again, showed that he is capable of a high class performance. Slinky Mapimpi is full of talent too and bounced back to form last time. He is capable of a top run over this trip too and is 1kg better off than Ziyasha so should do well from a nice high draw with the in-form Mickaelle Michel up. Destiny Of Fire ran a good fifth when stepped down to this trip last time in the Camellia Stakes and could make her presence felt. Almond Sea is second best in at the weights, 1,5kg under sufferance with Destiny Of Fire, and she can do better than she did in the Camellia if ridden more conservatively and then running on strongly, as she is capable of doing. Quantum Theory was in good form before going to Cape Town, where he ran well below par, and he might be ready to bounce back. Ziyasha is selected to beat Slinky Mapimpi with Destiny Of Fire, Almond Sea and Quantum Theory next best.
In the first leg of the Pick 6 over 1600m Celtic Manor made a fine debut over 1160m and this Master Of My Fate should relish the step up in trip and she is drawn in pole too. Be My Fate could be the main threat as she looks to be on the up, although she has a tricky draw. Gimmesumluv has been knocking on the door and should be in the shake up.
In the fifth race, a Middle Stakes race over 1600m, The Playboy Bomber is one of the best weighted males and he is at the top of his merit rated band off a 93, having won a Middle Stakes race last time when rated 88 and being one point off the top of his band. Tintin has an easier task than last time and is interesting stepped up in trip from a good draw as he has done well up to 1450m, although his dam was speedy, so this Rafeef filly is not guaranteed to like the step up. Willy Meet Again is the best weighted runner and will be a big runner if able to overcome a wide draw and get to the front fairly easily as she is capable of kicking from the front. Erroll Flynn was most disappointing last time in a feature but there were excuses and he can bounce back. King’s Express is one of the best weighted males in the race and the form of his win last time has been franked.
In the sixth race over 2000m Instant Attraction is capable of going close here as she did well against the boys last time over course and distance and now has a plum draw as opposed to a wide draw. Thoonsil is four points higher after his maiden win but from pole position looks capable of following up. Full Go is in good form and distance suited but does have to overcome a wide draw. Terrence looks capable of earning in this line up. Romeo’s Magic can bounce back with a step down in trip from a fair draw.
In the seventh over 2000m Ariovistus won easily last time and can go close again despite being six points higher. Jordan is course and distance suited and he can do a lot better than last time, where he was drawn eleven and found nothing, as he is now drawn four. Future Gamble is on the up and should be in the shake up too.
In the ninth over 1000m Umzingeli Wenyati should make a bold bid from a nice high draw. His Lordship has the ability to go close, but he has the number one draw. Lonely As A Cloud should be in the shake up here.
In the first leg of the PA over 1600m Rock My Boat is distance suited and can go one better than last time in an uninspiring field.
In the first leg of the Bipot over 1160m Gone Cold has fine form and will be hard to beat, although he does have a low draw which might be disadvantageous. Stormact is drawn high and should be right there.
In the first race 1160m the impressive grey Impressive will be hard to beat from a nice high draw.
