Barrier Trial Greyville poly 1000m 20/04/2018

st Princess Vicky (Moodley -1.5 kg/G S Kotzen 3yof MR83 A 58kg draw 2) This filly is the first foal of the four-time Grade 1 sprint-miler Princess Victoria and although wining only once in five starts to date she is likely improving being by Silvano. She hasn’t raced since January when disappointing as favourite over 1600m at Kenilworth. She broke well and was full of running throughout, striding out well, and towed her jockey along who sat still throughout.  58.77 seconds

nd 9,25 Bold Beauty (Marcus/Howells 3yof A 58kg  draw 6). This Bold Silvano filly hasn’t raced since finishing a 5,25 lengths fifth from a wide draw on debut over 1200m on the Greyville turf last November. She fought for her head in the first two stride but thereafter strode out rhythmically without being asked a lot. 60.48 seconds

rd 9.75 Lady Wisteria (IRE) (Jacobson/B Crawford 4yof a t 59kg draw 4)   60.57 seconds. This imposing Sir Francealot filly is six months younger than her contemporaries and finished a promising 1,25 length second in her second start over 1000m at Kenilworth last June but was found to have bled and hasn’t raced since. She threw her head up and fought in the first few strides after the jockey restrained her in order to be at the back. After that she strode out well under a tight hold and is one to watch in an ordinary maiden.

th 10,25 Son Of The Duke (Veale/Drier 2yoc S 57kg draw 1) This unraced Duke Of Marmalade colt is the first foal of the top class but luckless Var mare Schiffer. He is an athletic sort and strode out well throughout without being asked a lot, although he did change legs in the straight. Not a bad trial considering the age gap. 60.67 seconds.

th 10,50 Peacock Alley (De Melo/Dixon 2yoc S 57kg draw 3) This unraced Toreador colt showed some speed after being forced sideways at the start and he then stayed on with a nice stride, although he did have to be pushed along in the straight. 60.71 seconds

th 12,50 Mitra Music (Kennedy/G van Zyl (Jnr) 2yof S 56kg draw 5) This unraced Oratorio filly dwelt but from then onward strode out nicely but had to be nudged along in the straight. 61.1 seconds
