Lord London's blood test returns normal
David Thiselton
Alistair Gordon said from Summerveld on Saturday (April 25) that Lord London’s blood test after his recent disappointing run in the Grade 3 Byerley Turk over 1 400m at Scottsville on April 19 had returned normal.
Both Gordon and jockey Anthony Delpech, however, do not believe that he performed to his best and were extremely disappointed with the run in which he finished in sixth place, 4,35 lengths behind the winner Polished Steel.
Gordon said that the Hussonet colt was still being targeted at the Grade 2 Korean Racing Association Guineas at Greyville on May 10, although with his merit rating still on 88 there is a chance that he might not get into the race.
Meanwhile, the Mike de Kock-trained Port Of Dubai became the first horse from the Byerley Turk to come out again.
Running off a merit rating of 82, he won a MR77 handicap over 1600m at Greyville on Freedom day (monday April 27) by 0,5 lengths from the well regarded Glen Puller-trained Askari after leading from the start.
Port Of Dubai finished a 10,85 length tenth in the Byerley Turk, indicating that it could turn out to be a very good race.
