De Kock acquires Clearly Silver, Star Empire
David Thiselton
Two Dennis Drier-trained horses, Clearly Silver and Star Empire, will be joining Mike de Kock’s Dubai bound string.
Clearly Silver, a four-year-old Silvano gelding, has developed into a very promising sprinter and was a touch unlucky in his last start in the Listed Umgeni Handicap over 1000m at Clairwood when slow away with first time blinkers before running on fluently for a good third to Gaultier, who had earlier finished second in the Grade 1 Mercury Sprint.
Clearly Silver’s Hong Kong-based owner has chosen to take him to Hong Kong via the Dubai Carnival.
Star Empire, a four-year-old Second Empire gelding, put up a superb effort in his last start to beat Galileo’s Galaxy at level weights in the Listed Darley Arabian over 1900m at Clairwood having come from some way back in the running.
Star Empire has been sold into the De Kock yard.
