Noordhoek Flyer withdrawn from July
Noordhoek Flyer will not be making his much anticipated appearance in the 2010 Vodacom Durban July.
An obviously disappointed trainer Dean Kannemeyer said that in consultation with the son of Pivotal's Monaco-based owner, Lady Christene Laidlaw, it had been decided that it was in the colt's best long-term interests to give the big race a miss this year.
Kannemeyer said: "As previously stated, he showed in the Daily News 2000 that he does not perform at his optimum level beyond 1800m at this stage of his career. He is already a multiple group winner and this, together with his stallion's pedigree, makes him an extremely valuable racehorse.
“It has always been our philosophy to adopt a patient and structured approach when developing our young horses, and I am extremely appreciative of Lady Laidlaw's unconditional support of our recommendation to her.
“Noordhoek Flyer owes us nothing and he is improving and growing all the time. His future remains extremely bright and exciting," he said.
He went on to say that Noordhoek Flyer would be nominated for the Grade 1 Champions Cup on July 3 and offered reassurance that the stable’s Champions Season campaign would continue as planned with the balance of their string.
