Bass pair have plenty in their favour

TRAINER Mike Bass must have been all smiles when he learned that his two key runners in the R1-million L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate (G1) and TBA Paddock Stakes at Kenilworth on Saturday 9 January had both drawn pole position for their respective races.
Pocket Power already made history in January this year when he completed the Queen’s Plate-J&B Met double for the third successive year. It will be harder to complete the double this year with the likes of Big City Life, Oracy and Dan De Lago heading for the Met but Pocket Power will be tough to beat in terms of the weight-for-age conditions of the Queen’s Plate, to be run over 1600m.
His full sister, River Jetez, has yet to win a Grade 1 race and will try against members of her own sex in the R1-million Grade 1 Paddock Stakes over 1 800m. - Saftote.com
