Oracy in public gallop
CHAMPION trainer Charles Laird took the decision to pull the Sansui Summer Cup favourite out of saturday's Grade 2 Victory Moon Handicap as he did not want his charge to incur any further penalty for the R2-million race to be run over 2 000m at Turffontein on Saturday 28 November.
Laird told Jack Milner of Racing Express: “Oracy already received 1kg for winning a small race at Turffontein last month and has got another 1kg because the handicappers have dropped Buy And Sell’s merit rating by two points. “That means they have raised the weights of all the other runners in the Summer Cup by 1kg to keep Buy And Sell at 60kg,” explained Laird.
“But it is also important for the public to know the horse is fit and well and so, in the interests of transparency, I have decided to give him a public grass gallop at Turffontein on Saturday.” - Racingweb
