Crawford moves on
TRAINER Brett Crawford’s eight-year partnership with billionaire owner Sabine Plattner has come to end. Crawford has resigned and says that today would be his last day as private trainer for Plattner Racing.
“We’ve had eight good years together but things haven’t been going all that well recently and it is time to call it a day and move on,” Crawford told Racingweb.co.za.
Crawford trained seven Grade 1 winners for Plattner, including 2004 J&B Met winner Angus, multiple feature sprint winner Laissesfaire and Fillies Guineas and Paddock Stakes winner Bad Girl Runs. Angus also failed by a whisker in the 2003 Durban July.
Crawford said that he had been allocated boxes at Phillipi training centre near Cape Town and that he was not “left out in the cold.”
Plattner, it has been rumoured, will be relying on Justin Snaith’s racing operation for assistance until she finalises her own future plans.
“I don’t know about that as they have been tight-lipped,” commented Crawford.
