Kritsiotis steps down as Tellytrack manager
NICO Kritsiotis has decided to step down from a Tellytrack managerial role from 1 October in order to focus on presenting and commentating. This was announced on Thursday by Mike Rishworth, in his capacity as Tellytrack’s interim broadcast executive.

Kritsiotis has had a difficult year health-wise and in March had an operation to remove both his kidneys. He is now awaiting a kidney transplant and receives dialysis three times a week.

In Tellytrack and his own best interests, and to enjoy a less-pressured routine, Kritsiotis will rejoin the Tellytrack presenting team as an executive presenter in the studio and will become more of a permanent feature in the Gauteng commentary boxes.

Kritsiotis said: “It has been a trying year and my first love is for presenting the game which I love so dearly. I have been proud of all my achievements as part of Tellytrack management and will always be available to help move the game forward.

“I am looking forward to spending a lot more time analysing the game and attending more race meetings, which spurs me on from day to day. I thank the Phumelela Gold Enterprises Executive for being so amenable in accepting my proposal to move back to presenting.”

As part of the reshuffle, Dieter Wohlberg will assume responsibility for day-to-day administration and all technical and production aspects of Tellytrack and sister international channel Racing International, while Neil Pretorius will manage the team of presenters and the all-important data room. Both will report to Rishworth until further notice.

Phumelela Gold Enterprises chief executive Rian du Plessis said: “A healthy and happy Nico is vital to our sport and we recognise and fully support his proposal to return to presenting and commentating full time.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Dieter and Neil well with their added responsibilities. I look forward to working with Nico, Dieter and Neil in their new roles,” he added.
