Noordhoek Flyer doubtful for July

The Dean Kannemeyer yard have announced that Noordhoek Flyer is now doubtful for the Vodacom Durban July having not pleased jockey Karl Neisius in the Daily News 2000 on Saturday and having also shown signs yesterday of being a little shaken up.
Noordhoek Flyer lost a shoe in the running on Saturday and returned a little jarred up.
Neisius felt that "there was nothing there" when he picked Noordhoek Flyer up in the straight and Kannemeyer said that the obvious conclusion was that the horse did not stay "a genuine 2000m at this level."
Kannemeyer said that a more realistic route for the son of Pivotal would now be the Champions Cup over 1800m at Clairwood, before putting him away until the Cape summer, where his targets would be the L'Ormarins Queen's Plate and the J&B Met.
Kannemeyer felt, however, that Noordhoek Flyer's July dream might just be postponed for a year rather than buried and he cited the example of Over The Air, trained by his father Peter, who was labelled as a miler early in his career, but went on to win the July as a four-year-old.
"Horses can develop stamina as they get older," he said.
Kannemeyer concluded by saying that a final decision on Noordhoek Flyer's short term plans would be made within 48 hours.
