Summerveld - 700m above sea level

The Training Centre at Summerveld is situated about 36 km from Durban at Shongweni, which is about 5 km off the N3 to Pietermaritzburg.

The Centre provides all the necessary facilities for Trainers. In addition to approximately 1 100 stables and the necessary grooms' hostel accommodation, there is a privately owned Produce and General Dealer's Store which stocks most everyday feed and general requirements. A Clubhouse on the property serves breakfast six days a week (Sundays Excluded) for Trainers and their guests. Meals are available between 06:00 and 09:00

A limited number of stables are available on application for visiting horses.

The Training facilities comprise the following:
Grass tracks - 2 000m with a 1 000m right hand bend running into a 1 000m straight. - 800m straight + 1 000m uphill straight
Viscoride track - 1 200m
Sand tracks - 1 000m around a turn running into a 1 000m straight - 800m straight + 2 x 350m trotting
