Competing against the men in what is generally considered a male sport is not easy for any woman but talent will come to the fore wherever it is required irrespective of gender.

Former Zimbabwean Alyson has not had it easy since relocating to South Africa but she has hung in and done the best possible. Her efforts were rewarded during the month when from her 20 runners she managed three winners, a second, four thirds and four fourths giving her a 60% win/place strike rate.

She is competing against some of the top stables in the country and her success this month was most worthy of the award.
