Owner of the Month

MAYESH CHETTY

Mayesh Chetty, Gold Circle KZN Chapter’s Owner of the Month for March, was hooked on horseracing at an early age but it was only recently that he got involved in the sport as an owner. “I liked racing from when I was young but it was only at the 2008 Sibaya Yearling Sales that I decided to get involved in owning horses.”

In a short time, Mayesh’s racing interests have blossomed into either owning or having shares in 25 horses with four trainers. Many of these are young horses that are still on the farm but Mayesh had two winner’s in the month of March, both with trainer Kumaran Naidoo.

The Tiger Ridge colt Shere Khan, with Muzi Yeni up, ran out a very easy winner on debut and former KZN Guineas winner, Dynamite Mike, followed up at Clairwood with Anthony Delpech aboard.

Mayesh is also branching out into the breeding industry with an expensive, well-bred filly that has not raced because of injury. She will start her stud career next season.

Mayesh is Gold Circle’s Owner of the Month for March and we wish him every success in the future.
