LUCIAN AFRICA

The Gold Circle Jockey Achiever Award for the month of December have been awarded to Lucian Africa

Like many sportsmen, one day you are the flavour of the month, the next you are almost forgotten.
Popular light-weight jockey Lucian Africa has seen both sides but his riding career received a timely boost this month. Up until the end of February he had ridden just three winners this season but March proved to be a red letter month as he booted home five more.

Lucian is the retained rider for owner Adam Kethro and his private trainer Gary Rich based in Mooi River and he rounded off a very successful  month with a 400-1 double for trainers Des Egdes and Ivan Moore at Scottsville.  Two of his wins came aboard the Moore-trained Masked Wonder who started at 66-1 and 11-1 respectively.

Although Anthony Delpech was the leading local rider with 15 winners, Lucian has upped his game and is a deserving recipient of the Jockey of the Month award.
